Classes at Candeias Capoeira West Seattle are appropriate for all levels. Ages 13 and up are welcome in the teen/adult class. No experience required and any fitness level is welcome. Brand new beginners will be walked through the basics while the more advanced students will be challenged with more difficult movements. Haven't worked out in a while, or ever? Not a problem, all you need is a positive attitude - Capoeira is flexible enough for everyone and we help you through movement progressions at your pace.

We welcome kids ages 5 - 12 in our kids class. If you have a child under 5, they are welcome with active parent/guardian supervision until they are ready to join class safely. Classes warm-up together and when appropriate we split the groups by ages or levels to work different movements. 

We welcome drop-ins, but prefer you let us know you will be coming to your first free class. Fill out the email form below to let us know you are coming.

I'm not in the best shape. Will I still be able to play Capoeira?


Yes, we can scale the class for any level. You will need to be prepared for a workout and to be sore for the first few classes.

Can I observe a class?


Quiet observers are always welcome. It is best to contact us to let us know you are coming so we can let you know of the best class to watch.

What can I expect in a first adult or kid class?


Please come 5 minutes early to fill out a short waiver form. Be prepared to work out and sweat! Capoeira is a very physical activity. The normal class structure starts with warm-up, leads into training according to level, and typically ends with a roda with music and partner games. Please make extra time to stretch before and after your classes. We will be sure to give you lots of tips on stretching and after class care.

What should I wear/bring?


Please wear comfortable clothing (no shorts). We train in bare feet but you can also wear light shoes if you prefer. You may want to bring sports tape to prevent blisters on your feet. 

When should I start?


We have open enrollment for adults and kids alike so you can start anytime.
