Teen/Adult
Capoeira Classes
Students new to Capoeira start out with our Fundamentals Capoeira Course which introduces teens and adults to the foundations of Capoeira.
Students moving through this course will develop strength, flexibility, rhythm, and coordination while learning essential Capoeira techniques—kicks, escapes, sequences, and basic acrobatics—at a comfortable pace in a safe and welcoming environment.
Alongside the physical practice, participants explore traditional songs and instruments, building a deeper connection to Capoeira’s rich cultural roots. The class emphasizes respect, discipline, and community, making it a welcoming space for absolute beginners to learn and grow together. Students move to Beginner and Mixed Level classes once they progress through our Fundamentals Program.

BodyWeight Conditioning
Our BodyWeight Conditioning class is open to anyone, but it is designed for Capoeiristas to build strength, power, mobility and comfort holding your own body weight in a variety of adaptations.
This class will get you sweating quickly as we work mobility and strength exercises combining movements on the floor, in the air, and upside down!
We utilize our own body as well as steel maces and kettlebells to strengthen our base to become grounded. We work inversions at any level to get you comfortable going upside down and to introduce you to soft acrobatics.
All levels welcome- movements are scalable and can be adapted for anyone.

All Levels and Abilities
Choreo Class
This class explores the rich expressive potential of Capoeira beyond the roda, blending traditional elements with contemporary movement to create performance-driven choreography. Drawing from Capoeira folklore dances, Brazilian music, and cultural traditions, students will engage with the rhythms, stories, and embodied history that shape the art form. Participants will also incorporate influences from modern movement practices, expanding their creative range and developing a unique movement voice.
Through guided improvisation, composition exercises, and collaborative creation, the class will build original choreographic works. The intention of this class is to develop pieces for performance, offering students the opportunity to refine their artistry, musicality, and stage presence while honoring the roots of Capoeira and its cultural context.

Jen (aka Agua-Viva) is the owner and an instructor for Capoeira and conditioning classes. She is organized, thoughtful, and professional in her approach to running this shared exercise space. She's built a wonderful community of students passionate about learning all aspects of Capoeira (movements, music, culture, roda), who pitch in to support eachother and the community. If you are considering trying out Capoeira for yourself, or looking for a welcoming group, please come give us a try!
